Get Braces but Maintain your Self Image

Most of the time, your dentist will recommend dental braces for you if you have a bad bite. In the world of professional dentistry, bad bites are often referred to as malocclusion. This condition is often caused by the following circumstances:

a. You have a small mouth. If your mouth is small, this means that there is limited space and your teeth will have to vie for space and position once they start growing. As a result, your teeth can become crowded and that may prompt unwanted dental structures and formations.

b. You are fond of "tongue thrusting." If you are always thrusting your tongue forward or if you have developed the habit of pressing your tongue against your teeth or your lips, your frontal teeth can protrude.

c. You have extra teeth or your teeth are not enough. If you have too many or inadequate teeth in your mouth, your bite will be affected.

d. You have a misaligned bone structure. If your jawbone is not on its proper place or if your bone structure is misaligned, you may find it hard to chew or speak.

e. You have developed improper habits such as thumb sucking. These are detrimental to your overall dental and facial development and can result to protruded front teeth.

Other than a malocclusion, you can consider the use of dental braces if you simply want to improve your overall dental appeal as well as your general appearance. Moreover, it should be noted that recent improvements in the field of orthodontics make dental braces more appealing.

Orthodontic procedures can now be done with reduced treatment time. With the use of computer-aided technology in most orthodontic clinics, your dentist can immediately come up with graphic tooth models in devising your overall dental treatment plan.

Instead of conducting time consuming and painful jawbone surgical examination, your dentist can easily get a computer aided scan of your face and come up with a graphic representation for the creation of jawbone or teeth impression casts and molds.

The advancements in dentistry have also prompted more comfortable orthodontic treatments. Included in the list of comfortable treatments are the dental brace wires that are made out of titanium. The implants can be attached on the roots on the sides of your mouth and magnets can be placed on your molars. Such can promote teeth repositioning without the need to wear a headgear and suffer much discomfort.

I'm a tongue-thruster! My teeth protrude some, but my biggest issue is the cavities that plague my teeth. They've gotten so bad that I can't even afford to fix them and am relying on donations via fundable.com!

I agree, orthodontic treatment has made great advances in the past 10 years. Not only can clear braces be used in some cases, but the need for extractions has reduced. Even conventional braces have become less of a problem. The whole patient experience is changing, with the Hollywood smile being accessible to everyone.
